Key Points
- Bitget says Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals on the Bitcoin network are now open following last week’s hack.
- Ethereum (ETH) withdrawals are scheduled to restart at 08:00 UTC on September 29 across Ethereum, BSC, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism.
- Withdrawal availability differs by asset; users should verify the status for each specific coin before submitting a request.
Bitget is reopening withdrawals one asset at a time after a security incident that saw approximately $387.5 million transferred to attacker-controlled addresses on September 24, 2026. Bitcoin withdrawals on the BTC network are open as of the exchange’s September 28 notice, while Ethereum is on a published schedule and other assets follow in the days ahead. Bitget Withdrawal Restart: The Confirmed Asset-by-Asset Status
BTC Withdrawals Are Open
Bitget’s September 28 service notice confirms that withdrawals on the BTC (Bitcoin) network are open. The announcement is an exchange service-status statement; it does not include individual customer transaction hashes or independently verifiable proof that a specific customer transfer has completed. ETH Withdrawals Are Scheduled for September 29
According to Bitget’s phased timetable, ETH withdrawals are scheduled to restart at 08:00 UTC on September 29, covering the Ethereum mainnet alongside BSC, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism networks. USDT withdrawals across Ethereum, BSC, Solana, and Tron are scheduled for 08:00 UTC on September 30. Other tokens, fiat withdrawals, and P2P services are set for 08:00 UTC on October 2. This is a meaningful distinction from a full platform resumption. Services that were briefly available, such as futures trading, do not indicate that spot withdrawal access is restored across all assets. For Southeast Asian users on platforms that route through Bitget liquidity, the per-network scope of the ETH restart on multiple chains is particularly relevant.
Why Users Should Check Each Asset Before Submitting a Withdrawal
Do Not Assume One Asset’s Status Applies to Another
The staggered schedule means BTC, ETH, USDT, and other tokens carry different availability windows. Bitget’s own timetable lists each asset with its specific restart date and UTC time; users should consult that notice for the asset they intend to move rather than inferring a blanket reopening from the BTC update alone.
For retail users in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, where USDT is widely used for remittances and peer-to-peer trades, the October 2 P2P resumption date is the most operationally relevant milestone. USDT on Tron, common across Southeast Asian OTC desks, is not yet available for withdrawal at the time of this report.
Background: The Incident and Revised Totals
Bitget’s initial incident notice said its security systems detected unauthorized transfers from hot wallets at 18:31 UTC on September 24, 2026, prompting a temporary suspension of withdrawals. Channel NewsAsia, citing Reuters, reported the exchange paused customer withdrawals after crypto worth approximately $351.6 million was stolen, and noted the exchange’s statement that user funds were safe.
Bitget’s subsequent remediation update placed the revised total at approximately $387.5 million transferred to attacker-controlled addresses, up from the initial $351.6 million figure.
The exchange said the higher figure reflects Zcash and Tron assets added to its accounting, not additional unauthorized activity. Bitget also noted that its User Protection Fund held over $464 million at the time of the incident, exceeding the revised total of attacker-controlled transfers. Blockchain analytics firm AMLBot has separately reported that 4 BTC from the Bitget hack were traced into Wasabi CoinJoin mixing activity. The exchange’s update named Mandiant and SlowMist as firms supporting the ongoing investigation, and said relevant authorities had been notified.
What Remains to Be Confirmed
USDT Status Should Be Verified Against the Full Exchange Statement
The phased timetable schedules USDT at 08:00 UTC on September 30, but that window has not yet passed at the time of this report. Users should treat that date as a published target, not a completed restoration, and confirm against Bitget’s official support channel before initiating transfers. The broader category of other tokens, fiat rails, and P2P services carries a separate October 2 schedule and should be treated as a distinct confirmation.
Bitcoin traded near $83,497 at the time of the report, down roughly 0.96% over 24 hours, while the market-wide Fear and Greed Index stood at 74, indicating a Greed reading despite the incident. For regional exchanges such as Indodax, Tokocrypto, and Coins.ph, which maintain liquidity or user-base overlap with global platforms, Bitget’s per-asset restart schedule is a signal that normalisation is underway but not yet complete across all tradeable assets.
